QNG at the 1st Recorder Summit 2011 in Schwelm

Expectations, anticipations and nervousness were „in the air“ before the 1st Recorder Summit 2011 started in Schwelm at the Ruhrgebiet in Germany.  All important recorder makers, editors, manufacturers etc. came in order to show their products during a three days exhibition. All workshops were sold out. Great performers such as Dorothee Oberlinger, Maurice Steger, Flanders Recorder Quartett, Flautando Köln, Nadja Schubert etc.  did perform in the big local catholic church St. Marien. And among them QNG!!

QNG played „Fantasy in Symmetry“ – our program based on pieces with canonical structures in early and contemporary pieces written for us. Additionally Susi and Andrea presented contemporary recorder sounds and techniques during the workshop „No Fear of New Music“, which was overbooked and a big success.

Gratulations to the organizers Stephanie and Georg Goebel! We had a great time there!

QNG records the third CD

The beginning of this year was dominated by preparations and the first recording session at the studio of Bayerische Rundfunk in Nürnberg. The CD will be produced in collaboration with BR and Label Genuin. We are looking forward presenting you an album with new exciting music. More details later!

New Programs!

At the beginning of the year QNG worked hard on new programs for the next season! Completely new is „femART“, a program with music by contemporary female composers (Gubaidulina, Filonenko, Alexandri-Papalexandri, Krashenko) and (Early) music with a strong reference to women (Binchois, Caldini, Du Caurroy, Arauxo, Bingen).  A program which we will premiere in June during the Handel Festival in Göttingen is „Vive le Baroque – Rock la Vie“ with music by Lully, Rameau, Purcell, Szwed, Guimaraes, Sanders, Händel and Boismortier. „BREATHtaking“ focuses on the act of breathing and contains fascinating experimental contemporary music. „Potpourri for all ages“ is our program for young people.

QNG Wishes Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!

QNG plays recorders by Küng and Mollenhauer in Greenwich

QNG played a concert at the Early Music Festival in Greenwich and did two instrument makers presentations – one by Mollenhauer and one by Küng.   Excerpts of the concert and the Küng`s recorders presentation you can see at this video. Thanks to Andreas Küng and Stefan Kömpel/Nik Tarasov, with whom we spent a lot of time together and had very tasty dinners.

We met many nice people and had a lot of fun. Finally saying Good-Bye was especially time-intensive, so Susi and Heide missed their flight. Fortunately changing a flight is as easy as the name of a certain airline promises  🙂 . Thanks also to Chris Orton, who helped us out and borrowed us one of his instruments.
