Especially remarkable in artists´s care is this backstage first-aid kit of the presenter of Mosel-Festwochen: cookies, plaster, o.b., aspirin, handkerchiefs, dextro-energy, toothpaste, sweets, toothbrush, vitamines, handcreme … etc.; Also presenters of Musikfestival Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburger Musiksommer keep artists happy by providing great catering.
Nevertheless QNG sometimes loves it …

Quartet New Generation , Edition Zeitklang EZ-24026
De blokfluit lijkt aan zijn zoveelste leven te zijn begonnen, met een hele nieuwe jonge generatie musici. Erik Bosgraaf bracht recent twee cd-boxen uit met nieuwe en oude muziek, en Jorge Isaac doet regelmatig van zich spreken in multimediaproducties. Het valt op dat al die namen les hebben gehad aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam, net zoals het grootste deel van de blokfluitistes van Quartet New Generation. Een ensemblenaam als een een statement zonder grootspraak: QNG is inderdaad jong, fris, virtuoos en heeft eigen ideeën over waar het heen moet met het instrument. Hun debuut-cd ’Ethereal’ laat een afgewogen keuze zien van oude en hedendaagse repertoirestukken, naast spannende onbekendere jonge componisten. Zo passen de hexachordfantasieën van oude Engelse componisten mooi bij ’Pari Intervallo’ van Arvo Pärt. De open muziek van Pärt ligt niet gemakkelijk op blokfluit en het ensemble nam een extra risico met de zetting voor lage instrumenten. Maar mooi dat het klinkt! Behalve loepzuiver speelt QNG ook superstrak in de groovende stukken: als een hecht orgeltje met driftig tikkende toetsjes klinkt ’Wicked’ van Michiel Mensingh. Maar verstild zit er ook op, in ’Still Life’ van Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri, waar zonder een toon te laten horen, QNG het tikken en schrapen tot hoge kunst maakt. Bad weather and a trunk on the rails suddenly stopped QNG´s travel to Bayreuth. Hours of waiting. Finally QNG was evacuated by the fire-brigade and arrived right in time to perform in the beautiful castle Fantaisie.
